Supporting and advocating for the Jain Community

On 28th September, 2014 the IoJ held a historic meeting of 29 Jain organisations in the UK, where a unanimous resolution was passed for the OneJAIN through the offices of the IoJ to represent all UK Jain Organisations in government and interfaith matters. This provides the Jain community with a single coherent voice in promoting the values and cause of Jainism.

Celebrate the 2550th Year of Mahavir Nirvan Kalyanak 2024 with OneJAIN

OneJAIN UK, in collaboration with over 35 Jain organizations across the United Kingdom, is proud to present the first-ever grand celebration of Mahavir Nirvan Kalyanak's 2550th year. This landmark event promises to be a spectacular gathering of the Jain community, with participants ranging from young children to the elderly, all coming together with great enthusiasm and devotion.

OneJAIN Paryushan 2020

The 32 UK Jain Organisations, united together as ‘OneJAIN’ launched this year’s Paryushan and Das Lakshan programme with an online event featuring major political leaders, prominent Jain spiritual leaders, and other faith leaders. from India and the Vatican.

OneJAIN Covid Response Awards

For the first time, the Jain community had constituted the OneJAIN COVID19 Excellence in Community Service award to recognise the incredible work that the organisations have been doing to support the community during the crisis. Examples included providing community activities over Zoom, including meditation, yoga, prayers, musical events and business briefings. Other examples were around supporting the elderly and vulnerable through the provision of food and shopping, and aiding the NHS and frontline staff with PPE and hot meals.

 
 

Planting for Peace 2019

Launched to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of one of the world’s greatest icons of peace, Mahatma Gandhi, the project reflects and encourages concern for the environment and for peace in all communities by planting Peace Trees, Peace Gardens and even Peace Forests.

Ahimsa Peace Garden 

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Friday 2nd October 2020, over 330 members of OneJain organisations and Harrow Recreation Ground Users Association assembled for a virtual ceremony to commemorate the finale of the year-long celebration of Mahatma Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary. The celebration was testament to the stellar efforts of dozens of volunteers from these organisations who jointly partnered on this project together with Harrow Council to transform a previously unmanaged and overgrown garden and picnic area to a beautiful “Ahimsa Peace Garden”.

Jain Representation at the Vatican

 Dr. Samani Pratibha Pragya and Samani Unnata Pragya from Jain Vishva Bharati, London represented OneJAIN UK at the International Conference on Religions and Sustainable Development Goals at Vatican City between 7th – 9th  March 2019.

His Holiness Pope Francis greeted leaders from world religious traditions and representatives of International Organisations. He reminded the delegates about the ‘sacredness of our earth’ and asked them to open up their treasures of knowledge to build the future of our planet. He emphasised it is time to listen to the cry of the earth and the poor.

HRH The Prince Of Wales Receives Ahimsa Award At Largest Jain Temple In UK

Marking the Institute of Jainology’s 25 years, a special Ahimsa Anniversary Award was presented to The Prince of Wales during his first-ever visit to the UK’s largest Jain Temple in Potters Bar.

Chairman of the Institute of Jainology, Nemu Chandaria OBE, and Rex H Shah President of Oshwal Association UK greeted HRH The Prince of Wales.

About the Institute of Jainology

Institute of Jainology (IoJ) was established following the first International Jain Conference held in London in 1983, when the need for an organisation to coordinate Jain affairs internationally was recognized. It was registered as a Charitable Trust in 1986 and has since achieved several notable milestones in matters of government, inter-faith and national education amongst others.

About the Jain All Party Parliamentary Group

The APPG is a grouping of parliamentarians from both houses of parliament, and all parties, who are interested in the Jain faith and community.

Commenting on the launch event, IoJ Chairman, Mr Nemu Chandaria noted, “Jainism has now joined the other major faiths in the UK in having a APPG. This is a momentous occasion for the Jain community.”
